Windows XP SP3 integration with product key
So I ran across this one when I was trying to integrate SP3 with Windows XP using nLite on a Vista system. If you integrate SP3 in an XP build, along with an unattended product key, the installation complains about an invalid key. Not good. This happens also if you use the /integrate method of integrating the service pack under Windows Vista.
Yes, the fix is simple. Just do the slipstream under Windows XP or Windows 2003. What I have not yet tried, is updating my version of nLite and trying it again. I’ll get back to this post after doing so. Also reference Microsoft article: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;950722
Edit 9/24/09: Confirmed that the new version resolves the issue.
